Oerlikon – multi-display animation

Briefing

The company Oerlikon Balzers, market leader in the field of wear protection covering, had a worldwide launch presentation at the EMO 2013 of the new Bal.IQ range.

The task was to communicate in a digital and engaging way the innovation of the world's first "s3P" at the whole booth.

Realization

The realization was based on a multi-touch application on two 55”-multi-touch screens by side the machine as well as a screensaver, which was running in an endless loop on one frameless display wall with 2x3 vertically arranged screens.

 

Conception

The multi-touch application led the users, beginning with the history of the company as an expert in tool coating, over all previous technologies, finally to the advantages of S3P and their applications.

Widgets

Individual widgets are explaining in detail the product advantages, such as precision and hardness as well as the versatile applications of the new product line.

Based on this it was possible to visualize detail information like the differences in surface texture, which are not visible in reality. The product benefits were illustrated in a very dominant way.

Usability/Design

An intuitive navigation along a helix shape, which was also reflected by the booth design, made it possible for the user at any time to get to the desired content.

The futuristic and technical design of the application is very clear structured and clean. It transfers the innovativeness of the product and the company.

User Experience

The application was developed for 55''-multi-touch screens to set the content optimal.

By clicking the widgets the clients and visitors experienced memorable product impressions through the small animations and also by the impressive animations in the background of the application.

On-site support

werk:b communications was on site to ensure smooth operation of the application during the whole fair in Hanover.

Conclusion

The multi-touch screen and the display-wall were a highlight at the booth. The application was frequently used by clients, visitors and the sales staff to present or gather the right information about the innovation s3P.

Several new serious prospective clients were generated at the booth.
